Here is part 1 of our culinary adventures in Korea…Don’t read whilst hungry. ;)
Shabu Shabu: Our first dinner with our family in Korea – 9 years in the making.
Mansan Haemul Agu Jjim (마산해물아구찜) in Sinsa-Dong – Really, really good agu jjim. And HUGE portions.
Deli Hienzburg in Garosugil in Gangnam – The burger was very good and so was the pizza panini (top right). Do not order the chili fries – it was a bowl of really sweet chili with chunks of potatoes. If you want a good burger or sandwich, I recommend this place. And this neighborhood (Garosugil) – my favorite area in Seoul.
Our typical breakfast at our grandfather’s home. My stomach, which usually refuels every morning with just black coffee, went into shock.
I was craving pb&j and I bought this thinking it was a plain peanut butter sandwich. It wasn’t. It was peanut butter flavored whipped cream. No bueno.
Our lunch at Nami Island.
Grill5 in Garosugil – My brother wanted a non-Korean lunch so we tried this “Mexican” restaurant. It’s a cross between Chipotle and Kogi BBQ truck but everything is sweet. The burrito wasn’t very good but the kimchi quesadilla was delicious.
Little Saigon in Apgujeong – The pho was…different. Not bad, just…different. Didn’t taste like pho, actually. But it was a good bowl of soup noodles and I’d recommend it.
Azabu in Apgujeong – They specialize in taiyaki and you can get it served different ways (how cute are the little fishies?). The shaved ice and the sandwich were both good. It was the perfect way to follow-up our pho dinner.
I thought it would be fitting to finish this post with dessert. Part 2 of our Korean culinary adventures tomorrow!
