Sweater dress c/o Seraphine Maternity
I am now 38 weeks pregnant and a week away from being full term. The fact that we can meet Baby Boy any day now has been really exciting but the thought of not being pregnant anymore actually makes me a little sad.
Despite the stress and worries and some hiccups along the way, it’s been an easy pregnancy. I was lucky not to have any morning sickness or any other crazy symptoms, physically and emotionally. The baby has dropped and is head down and it feels like he’s inching his way out. I’ve been feeling a lot of pelvic pressure and Braxton Hicks cramps and up until a week ago I didn’t have much difficulty moving around or sleeping. I’m still walking and moving as much as I can (though it hasn’t been easy) and just mentally preparing myself for labor and delivery.
The thing I’m going to miss the most is feeling Baby Boy move around in my belly and just being one with him. I’m going to miss his little feet responding to my belly rubs and having him bounce and squirm around when he hears our voices. It’s incredible how much we love him already and how much he’s changed our lives. I can’t imagine the sea of emotions we’ll be swimming in the day we finally get to meet him. Now we just wait…
Speaking of which, yes, I am finally on maternity leave now but I can’t say that things have slowed down. Quite the contrary. Not only are we preparing for the arrival of Baby Boy but we’re also in the process of packing and moving…because we bought a house!!!
A little sneak peek of our new home! Our kitchen and outdoor deck/patio which has a fireplace and built in bbq. Some of you got to see a bit more on my Instastories a couple of weeks ago.
We’d been house hunting for a couple of months with no luck and this was literally the last home we saw. We told ourselves if we don’t find something by the end of November, we’re going to take a break and start looking again in Jan/Feb. We both fell in love with it the minute we walked inside and loved it even more after a couple more subsequent visits. During Thanksgiving weekend we grabbed Miles and drove over to the house to walk the neighborhood and familiarize ourselves with the surrounding area and I think that sealed the deal for us. We made an offer and went into escrow on Dec. 1st.
The house is exactly what we’d been looking for — multi-level, modern, and sleek. Christopher and I both lean towards neutrals and a more masculine aesthetic (if that makes sense). I think maybe because we’re both submerged in colors all day long at work, we desire a more peaceful and quiet home environment.
I can’t wait to share more with you as we move in and begin making it our HOME. The timing seems crazy but it actually worked out well for us — our escrow will close first week of Jan., our lease ends Jan. 30th, and my in-laws will be here next week and staying with us for a month and they’ll be able to help us with the transition. We’re currently living with boxes everywhere and as sad as we are to be leaving DTLA (we truly loved living here) we can’t wait to start this new chapter.
I know, there are so many things happening all at once for us. Hectic doesn’t even begin to describe our life right now but I wouldn’t have it any other way. New baby, new home, new year…there is so much to be grateful for and happy about.
P.S. The winner of the PinkBlush gift card is Mailinh Luong! Someone will be in touch soon! Congratulations! :)
